What attracted you to the language services industry?

Languages and communication have always been a passion of mine. I speak several languages myself, and after moving to the UK 12 years ago, I became even more aware of how important language support is in helping people feel understood, included, and able to access essential services with confidence.

I started in the industry as a Bookings Coordinator 11 years ago and was immediately drawn to how fast-paced and people-focused the work is. Over the years, I’ve also been fortunate to work with an amazing team of colleagues and interpreters, which has really shaped my experience and passion for the industry.

What do you find most rewarding, and most challenging about your role?

Knowing that the work we do genuinely makes a difference by bridging communication gaps and helping people access important services and support.  I also really enjoy working closely with clients, interpreters, and colleagues, and being part of a team that’s focused on delivering a high-quality service every day.

It’s a role where you can clearly see the impact of the work, and that’s what I find most fulfilling.

How do you see interpreting services evolving within the UK over the next few years?

I see interpreting services in the UK continuing to evolve alongside both technology and increasing diversity, helping to make access faster and more flexible when people need language support. I think professional interpreting will continue to play a vital role, particularly in healthcare, legal, and social care settings, where accuracy, trust, and cultural understanding are essential.

What is the key ingredient driving the success of Silent Sounds Communications?

Having spent more than 11 years with the organisation, I believe the key ingredient behind our success has always been our human approach. We genuinely focus on people first, not just processes. We care about both our interpreters and clients, and I think that really comes through in how we work every day. We always try to go the extra mile to support everyone involved and make sure everything runs smoothly. That consistency, care, and focus on relationships has played a big part in building trust over the years.

What career path might you have chosen if you weren’t leading the team?

If I weren’t leading the spoken services team, I think I’d still be in a role involving leadership and operations. I enjoy improving systems and workflows, while supporting teams and creating efficient, collaborative ways of working.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I focus on raising my daughter and helping her stay connected to both her Georgian and UK cultures. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and I also love exploring nature and historical places across the UK, especially castles and heritage sites.
