Celebrating the European Day of Languages

As a leading Language Services Provider (LSP), we understand how crucial language is in building bridges across cultures. That’s why we’re proud to support the celebration of European Day of Languages on 26th September an annual event jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Commission.

With 24 languages officially spoken throughout Europe, plus rare languages and regional dialects, the total number of spoken languages across the continent exceeds 200. This is testament to the rich blending pot of cultures and communities living side by side, and a reminder of the importance of multilingual communication.

Why celebrate languages?

Languages do more than allow us to communicate. They shape the way we see the world, help us understand different perspectives, and open doors to international relationships and career opportunities. This day serves to:

Raise awareness of the linguistic richness of Europe

Promote Europe’s cultural and linguistic heritage

Encourage people of all ages to learn new languages

Shine a light on language-related careers such as translation and interpretation

As a professional LSP, Silent Sounds works daily with interpreters, translators, and linguists who make communication possible in healthcare, government services, schools, and more. We know first-hand the life-changing impact of professional language support.
